ABBEY BAPTIST CHURCH is a group of local
people of all ages and backgrounds who believe
that the way to know God is through his Son, the
Lord Jesus Christ.
We take the Bible seriously, believing it to be God's Word, and we believe that the Christian message is as relevant and vital today as it was when Jesus came to earth.
That message is a stark one. it tells
us that one day each of us will have to stand
before God to account for our lives. It is also
a glorious message because it tells us that if
we truly know and trust Christ then we have nothing
to fear on that day but rather can look forward
to eternal life with Christ.
Most of our meetings are held at Abbey Baptist Chapel, in Checker Walk, off Abbey Close. We are just 2 minutes from the Market Place and right next door to the historic buildings of Abingdon Abbey.
